"I've watched it twice, once on tv and once on DVDs. The latter was watched in Korean and it's even better to hear the actors/actresses' own voice. The courage and persistence of JG was very inspiring. The love the couple shown for each other was gradual but true. The love of the King was conservative but brave. The scenery and song/theme music were all very awesome. Even the small characters, such as her foster parents, acted well. My eyes watered while watching the whole series! I highly recommend it to drama lovers."

"It is not important whether the premise of 'Dae Jang Geum' might have its base on Japanese comics such as 'Shota No Sushi' or 'Master of Taste,' for the writer of this show manages to create a universal story of hope, courage, patience and LOVE while maintaining what's most KOREAN in terms of the costumes and the settings. Although it seems to be one woman's 'success' story on the surface, it is really about how one remains true to where one started by overcoming one's own greed and desire. The lyrics of the BEAUTIFUL theme song roughly translates into; "Just because one comes here, one doesn't stay forever, just because one leaves, one doesn't go away forever." In my opinion, this IS the real theme of the show, letting it go and humbly accept what's human (high and low of life, birth and death)....very buddhistic (NOT to say that this show is religious in any means)."

"Jewel in the Palace is one of a kind. I've never seen a series quite like it. The roles were portrayed naturally by the actors. From the beginning to the end, we were so engrossed by the story, captivated by the characters splendidly portrayed by the actors and enthralled by the sheer beauty of the costumes. Jang jeum and min jio ho as well as the other actors were great. we could feel every emotions and passions each character conveyed so much so that we still hunger for more. I personally believe that though there be a thousand episodes still the movie would be the best. No wonder 'Jewel in the Palace' rated top in asia. No film could equal Jewel in the Palace.' We hope that more films be created like 'Jewel in the palace.' Of course with the same actors for i believe that they have done and given their very best. Good luck and more power to the casts and crew of 'Jewel in the Palace' hopefully there will be more films like it. Once again CONGRATULATIONS JANG JEUM."
