Television in Japan. The news producer at JBC wants to use Makoto to help raise
low viewer ratings. He persuades her to work for him for an absurdly high
salary, and also gives her the right to hire who she needs. While Makoto is being brought in to be the savior of the News Department, one man gets transferred from the Variety Department. His name is Hiromi Nagase. Since joining JBC Television, all he has done is variety programs. Although Hiromi has done everything he possibly could to ensure his programs are a success, his boss just could not could take any more of Hiromi's behavior which ranged from getting caught up in scandals with female television personalities, punching-out assistant directors, to taking kickbacks from production companies. His boss finally tells Hiromi to make a fresh start in the "hard nosed" News Department. So now the News Department has Makoto who thinks high ratings are the meaning of life, and Hiromi who values the success of a program as just a tool for the full enjoyment of life. These two totally different personalities mix it up and somehow reach a mutual understanding, creating a delightful "light comedy" for adults. |

Japanese-Taiwanese heartthrob Takeshi Kaneshiro
stars as Akutagawa, a securities analyst who relieves the stress with nightly
sessions at the local bowling alley. The young salaryman is so good, in fact,
that the alley's elderly owner tells him he's pro material and bequeaths him his
own "golden ball," since he won't need it anymore. It turns out a local
developer is trying to convince the owner to sell the bowling alley, whose
business has never been the same since the end of Japan's huge "bowling boom" of
the late '60s and early '70s. The developer wants to tear it down and build a
love hotel.
Of course, the longtime employees of the alley, as well as the manager of the planetarium that's located on the roof and a former pro who frequents the establishment, oppose the sale and try to convince the owner not to cave in. The developer comes up with an idea: He and the owner will bowl for the building. There is also a romantic subplot involving an upper-middle-class housewife (Hitomi Kuroki) who uses the same locker that Akutagawa does, but in the daytime. |

Live action series based on the popular manga serial by Yosuke Fujishima. The story of Taiho Shichauzo is an action-comedy about two female police officers with complete opposite personalities that are teamed up to fight crime in Tokyo. The drama depicts the female officers as having a unique and aggressive approach not only in love and fashion, but when confronting dangerous felons and criminals as well. Famous Japanese actress Sachie Hara will portray the intelligent and car-loving Miyuki Kobayakawa. Hara stated in the press conference that she enjoyed dressing in costume [as a police woman] because she doesn't have the opportunity to dress in uniform so often. Since the drama has numerous action scenes, she also mentioned how her body ached after training for the role. Hara's co-star Misaki Ito will portray the wild and powerful Natsumi Tsujimoto who is skilled in martial arts and blessed with athletic abilities. Ito described her character as someone who is "passionate and straightforward" and her trademark martial arts move is an "elbow drop." Also on hand were the other members of the cast, including Kazushige Nagashima, the leading man in the series. Nagashima will portray the character Ken Nakajima, a tough, motorcycle riding officer with a strong sense of justice. The audience burst into laughter as he said, "Since I'm much obliged to the police department twice (due to car accidents, etc.), I feel a little awkward to play this role." In the drama, there may be a romantic twist between him and Hara's character. |
